My approach as a neuro-affirming psychologist & coach

Neuro-affirming means I understand that brains are wired differently and that’s not a problem to fix. It’s a valid and meaningful way of being and an essential part of the greater diversity of life. Therapy here isn’t about masking or becoming more ‘neurotypical’ it’s about understanding your experience, validating it, and working with your strengths and needs.

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches that support emotional regulation, identity development, and sustainable wellbeing, all adapted to your energy, sensory preferences, communication style, and executive functioning needs.

We’ll find what resonates with you and build a support process that helps you reconnect with your strengths, process what’s been difficult, and move forward in a way that feels spacious, meaningful, and true to who you are.

Some of the approaches I draw from include:

  • Social model of disability - Seeing distress, burnout and disability in context. Much of the difficulty you expierence isn’t because of who you are but because the systems around you weren’t built with you in mind.

  • Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) - Helps you connect with your core values, build psychological flexibility, and take meaningful steps toward a life that feels more aligned and fulfilling.

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)  - Reconnecting with self-worth and developing a kind inner voice, especially if you've struggled with criticism or perfectionism.

  • Polyvagal and somatic-informed practice  - Using body-based strategies to support nervous system safety, reduce overwhelm, and support grounded self-awareness.

  • Schema and Psychodynamic Therapy - Making sense of long-standing patterns and needs, often shaped by early experiences of mis-attunement or unmet support.

  • DBT-informed skills - Adapted to support emotional regulation and self-understanding in ways that honour sensory, executive functioning, and accommodation needs.

  • Parts work   A gentle, respectful way of exploring your inner world. We build a relationship with your aspects of self, offering compassion and curiosity instead of judgment.

  • Narrative Therapy - Based on the idea that our identities are shaped by the stories we carry. Narrative Therapy supports you to gently explore and re-author these stories in ways that honour your lived experience, affirm your neurodivergence, and make room for self-trust, meaning, and agency.

  • Radical Acceptance  -  Acknowledging life as it is, messy, imperfect, and at times outside our control. While not always easy, this practice can be profoundly freeing. It can bring relief from corosive neuro-normative expectations and open the door to greater self-trust, presence, and appreciation for what is.

  • Indigenous, Eastern, and ecological understandings  - Approaches that honour interconnectedness, the wisdom of the heart and body, and the belief that healing is natural and relational.
